Salone del Mobile 2026 Shapes Global Design Trends for the Year Ahead

Salone del Mobile 2026 firmly establishes Milan as the world's design compass – a place where a single bold installation or striking chair can reshape interiors far and wide. Running April 21-26 at Fiera Milano Rho, this 64th edition pulls in over 2,000 brands alongside leading designers and collectors. It is not just a product exhibition, but a vivid picture of the future of living: smart kitchens flowing into exciting, all-encompassing spaces that will inspire creative interior additions in Tokyo, home lofts in Europe, and retreats in Dubai.

Global Trends and Exhibition Highlights

Salone del Mobile is still the go-to spot where furniture, lighting, and accessories earn their global status – always prioritizing flexibility, sustainability, and that genuine emotional connection. This year's "matter, meaning and the future of design" theme pulls together materials with real character, smart AI features, and nature-rooted details, fueling fresh directions like fluid generative shapes, hands-on textures, and smartly mixed textiles.

Salone del Mobile 2026 Highlights: Must-See Attractions

For instance, EuroCucina with FTK (Technology for the Kitchen) will be featured – the heart of Salone in pavilions 2–4. This will be a biennial event with 106 brands from 17 countries (38% international, 35 debutants). Here, kitchen product presentations will become full-fledged technological hubs: AI for personalized atmospheres (adaptive lighting that responds to mood), built-in plants in countertops, sustainable materials like FSC-certified wood or regenerated laminates. The smart solutions on display will impress: integrated hoods with sensors, modular countertops with antibacterial ceramics, kitchens for summer terraces. Visitors will test open-plan zones where the kitchen merges with the rest of the living space, this is a new trend for global showrooms.

A few more visual examples that spark the desire to see these solutions live:

  • Invisible induction hobs – integrated into countertops, they react to cookware without visible zones.

  • Esistyle facades – "living" textures made from thermo-reactive materials.
  • Refrigerators with AI planning – they predict purchases based on habits.
  • Sinks with UV disinfection – autonomous for modular islands.

In addition, Salone del Mobile will feature the Salone del Bagno cluster, where 163 brands will transform ordinary bathrooms into relaxation oases. The SaloneSatellite section will gather young designers under 35–700 participants who blend handcraft with modern technologies.

  • A new section, Salone Raritas, will appear in pavilions 9-11 (curated by Formafantasma studio). It will showcase 25 unique collectible objects made from recycled materials.
  • The Aurea installation by Maison Numéro 20 is also worth attention – an imaginary Art Deco hotel with eco-friendly materials in pavilions 13-15.
  • Another highlight – Salone Contract will open with an installation by Rem Koolhaas' architectural studio OMA.
